The Lofthouse is situated in a former fisherman's cottage close to the historic harbour in the beautiful fishing village of St Monans - the hidden gem of the East Neuk of Fife. Situated between Elie and Pitenweem On the Fifecoastal path, we are close to the East Pier smokehouse and 20 minutes drive from St Andrews. Ideal for families and couples, or as an artists getaway. The Lofthouse is a perfect getaway close to the harbour in the beautiful village of St Monans. On the Fife coastal path, it is perfect for nature lovers and walkers. There's an abundance of birds, seals and It's not uncommon to spot the resident pod of dolphins in the Forth. We have an equipped artists studio in the attic with beautiful views over the harbour and beyond to the silvery Forth for artists of all ages and ability inspired by the fantastic surroundings. With traditional fishing boats arriving in the harbour and surrounded by farmland, There is an abundance of fantastic food and restaurants nearby. A few minutes walk from the house to the East is the wonderful East Pier Smokehouse ( see jay Raynor's review in the Guardian). A few minutes to the West is the excellent Craig Millar Michelin listed restaurant and a few steps away is the lovely Diving Gannett cafe. Within a few miles are two Michelin starred restaurants- The Cellar in Anstruther and Peat Inn in the village of Peat Inn. There is an abundance of good fish and chip places including Murray's mobile chippy. There is a fish merchants at the top of Station Road selling fresh fish daily and the award winning Ardross Farm shop less than 2 miles away if you prefer to cook yourself.
