National Cycle Route 1 runs through the area and there are many popular seaside villages to explore including Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Warkworth, Newton-by-the-Sea, Craster, Amble and Howick. You can also enjoy boat trips out to see the birdlife on Coquet Island or the Farne Islands, or visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. The new Greenrig halt of the Aln Valley Railway is just a mile from the cottage and can be accessed by a short walk/ cycle ride along a scenic country lane, which also continues into Alnwick
